Inza Koné is a Primate Conservation Biologist. He is a senior Lecturer at the Laboratory of Zoology of the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire since 2004 and Director General of the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire since July 2018. He has worked for more than 15 years in the fields of natural resources management and the conservation of large mammals, especially primates and their habitats in Côte d’Ivoire and West Africa. His work makes the link between Ecology, Economy and Culture for the empowerment of rural communities in the field of natural resources management. Koné has won several national and international awards including the 2009 Future for Nature award (the Netherlands), the 2012 Whitley Award for Nature Conservation (United Kingdom), the 2015 Eremitage award for research in partnership for sustainable development in Africa, and the 2015 National Award of the best research team (Côte d’Ivoire).He is Chairman of the African Primatological Society, co-Vice chair of the African Section of the Primate Specialist Group of the IUCN/SSC, Chairman of the Evaluation Expert of the Green List of Protected areas of Côte d’Ivoire (IUCN), Member of the Pygmy Hippo Subgroup of the Hippo Specialists Group of the IUCN, Member of the Conservation Committee and the Education Committee of the International Primatological Society (IPS)…. Koné has authored or co-authored a minimum of 70 publications in the fields of ecology, behavioral ecology, conservation and environmental education.
